Since the founding of her practice in 2009, CCLA has planned and implemented projects for institutional and private owners across New England. With a deep respect for cultural and environmental resources her firm creates innovative, enduring landscapes. Cristina is a registered landscape architect with over twenty years of practice. Before establishing her firm, she worked for Reed Hilderbrand Associates and the Office of Keith Wagner, practices noted for award-winning residential and institutional landscapes. Emma’s projects find her interacting with complex networks of design and engineering professionals, local craftsmen, and regionally-sourced materials; Emma sees her role as steering a creative conversation with clients and properties – building unique landscapes that fit unique goals. Practicing primarily in Maine and focusing on residential landscapes, Emma believes deeply in the power of place-making: our ability to shape the spaces around us into crucibles for future meaning and memories. In her first 10 years of professional practice, Emma honed her technical and managerial skills on large-scale environmental-, public-, and institutionally-focused projects throughout the US with Hargreaves Associates, and more intimately scaled regionally-sensitive and context-specific New England design with Richardson & Associates. In 2013 Emma formed Emma Kelly Landscape LLC as an exciting new outlet for her passion for the personal impact of design, and her recent work can be seen in publications such as Maine Home & Design and the Boston Globe Magazine. By joining Collab, Emma is eager to capture the synergy of working with stellar peers who can drive the creative focus of projects further, and support even more complex and far-reaching project needs. Emma received her master’s degree in Landscape Architecture, with distinction, from the Graduate School of Design at Harvard University, as well as her undergraduate degree, with honors, in the fields of Cultural Anthropology and Religion. She has shared her love of design and the design process through studio instructor, visiting critic, and design jury roles at design and horticultural programs from Harvard’s Graduate School of Design to Southern Maine Community College. <image:caption>Dani Alexander founded Studio AKA in 2019 in the Capitol Hill neighborhood in Washington, DC. In her firm’s short tenure, she has won multiple awards and been featured as one of Home and Design’s Top 100 Designers in the region, one of just fourteen Landscape Architects to be included. While primarily dedicated to residential projects, she additionally has served public, institutional, and nonprofit clients as well. Dani brings to her projects her passion for story and belief that putting people in touch with nature instills a deep sense of well-being. She finds inspiration in the stories her clients share about their experiences in landscapes; places they knew as children, encountered through travel, or cared for themselves. The narratives help her build strong connections between her clients and their newly designed landscapes. Before founding Studio AKA, Dani worked at Reed Hilderbrand Landscape Architects, Verzone Woods Architects, and Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates. While at Reed Hilderbrand, Dani contributed to the implementation of multiple projects set forth in Harvard University’s Allston Institutional Master Plan, the American Museum of Natural History’s Richard Gilder Center for Science, Education, and Innovation, and the Houston Arboretum and Nature Center. In all projects, she enjoyed collaborative relationships with architects, engineers, naturalists, and stakeholders. Dani holds a Masters of Landscape Architecture from the University of Virginia and a Bachelor of Arts from Harvard University. Dani’s commitment to communicating the impacts of design, climate change, and resilience efforts is additionally supported through volunteering, teaching, and writing.
