Jessalyn Jarest, PLA, ASLA

Jessalyn L. Jarest founded her practice, JJLA, in 2010 and has completed diverse private gardens and residential landscapes. Her work has been published in Design New England, New England Home and received a City of Cambridge Preservation Award. A native New Englander, Jessalyn focuses on ecological solutions to stormwater management, accessibility, and sustainable garden design. Each of her gardens evoke artful relationships between outside and inside.

Jessalyn is a registered landscape architect with almost twenty years of experience working within the disciplines of architecture and landscape architecture. Prior to starting her own studio in Cambridge, she was an Associate with LeBlanc Jones (formerly Keith LeBlanc Landscape Architecture). In addition to working with KLLA, Jessalyn worked for several other award-winning landscape architecture firms in metropolitan Boston.

Jessalyn earned a Master of Landscape Architecture from Rhode Island School of Design (RISD), where she received the Department of Landscape Architecture’s Service Award, and a Bachelors of Science in Environmental Planning and Design from Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, where she received the Leadership Excellence Award from Cook College. In addition to her professional practice, Jessalyn spent over 10 years teaching at the Boston Architectural College and has been a visiting critic at Northeastern University, RISD, the BAC, and elsewhere.
